They came together in the mines. They came together on the ice. The Iron Range became the hockey hub of North America. Hockey was used to entertain children, to find pride in our communities and to bring immigrant populations together. These teams and fans needed a place to call home. So, they created a place for their families — The Eveleth Hippodrome.

In , its first year of existence, it had fourteen students. The college shared science laboratories, and library facilities with the high school. In , the Minnesota State Legislature passed a law providing for the transfer of the public, district-operated junior colleges to state operation and control. Eveleth Junior College became a state operated institution after July 1, Moritz, Switzerland. Either for lack of finances or students missing classes, all of the teams except Augsburg declined the opportunity. Consequently, the United States was not represented at the Winter Games.
